Since 1937, Austin Engineering Company Inc. has offered quality, economical civil engineering design and land surveying services in the Greater Peoria, IL region and beyond. We are professionally licensed in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin & Florida.
Recently, we have opened a branch office in Davenport, IA and are looking forward to providing the Quad Cities area with the same committed personal touch that our Peoria area clients have enjoyed for the past 80 years.

Our firm has extensive experience in commercial and residential land development including single family residential subdivisions, apartment complexes, senior living complexes, condominiums, strip centers, and stand-alone commercial developments. We also specialize in stormwater control and management including detention/retention facility design and flood studies as well as hydraulic and hydrologic analysis.

As a Land Surveying firm, we specialize in all types of surveys including ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, rural farm surveys, subdivisions, individual property surveys, condominium surveys, FEMA LOMA and Elevation Certificates, and construction layout. Professional Land Surveyor

As a Professional Land Surveyors with Austin Engineering, you will be responsible for completing the office and field work for various types of survey and engineering related projects throughout Illinois and Eastern Iowa. These tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform preliminary research in office and at the courthouse and prepare job files for the field crews.
  • Compute land survey boundaries, prepare staking files for construction layout, and prepare various types of survey plats.
  • Effectively communicate survey results to clients and project managers.
  • Oversight of field crews collecting data for your assigned projects.
  • Organization and management of survey field books, records, and files.
  • Assist Corporate land Survey Manager and other project managers as required.
  • Assist with Bids and Proposals.
  • Review of Deliverables and delivery of products.
  • Fill in as a Survey Crew Chief when necessary.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible surveying experience.
  • Expertise performing boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, FEMA surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout.
  • Expertise with Trimble GPS and Robotic survey equipment.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of field to finish survey procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • PLS Licensure in Illinois (Iowa PLS Licensure is a plus)
  • Clean driver’s license and the ability to travel on an as-needed basis.

Land Survey Crew Chief

As a Land Survey Crew Chief with Austin Engineering, you will be responsible for completing the field work for various types of survey and engineering related projects throughout Illinois and Eastern Iowa. These tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform preliminary research in office and at the courthouse in preparation for the survey project.
  • Collection of all survey data pertinent to the completion of the project.
  • Preparation of clear, legible, and organized field notes to assist the designer/surveyors with their projects.
  • Maintenance of survey vehicle and equipment.
  • Act as a field liaison for our clients and project managers.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible surveying experience.
  • Experience performing boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, FEMA surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout.
  • Expertise with Trimble GPS and Robotic survey equipment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D experience preferred)
  • LSIT License or CST Certification
  • Clean driver’s license and the ability to travel on an as-needed basis.
